Parshas Shemos

Tuesday, January 10th 2012 @ 2:51 AM    post viewed 86 times

Hi all!

In class this week:

* Meet little Yud

* The story of Parshas Shemos

* Emuna, or Bitachon? (Faith, or Trust?) When to have which?

* Science: Sink & Float & Baby Moshe

We will meet our friend Yud and hear a story about his exciting adventures!

In learning the story of Parshas Shemos with its many exciting details, we will also discuss the question of emuna (faith in G-d) and bitachon (trust in G-d) - when to have which, and how to use both in the right way.

Baby Moshe took a trip in a waterproof cradle. You can have a lot of fun with this at home experimenting with different media... which will sink or float? Put a (waterproof) baby doll in different baskets in the bathtub... how does the baby float best? If the basket starts to sink, what went wrong? Can you fix the problem?

Have fun and see you online!

Parshas Vayechi

Tuesday, January 3rd 2012 @ 1:39 AM    post viewed 76 times

Hi all! Welcome back!
In class this week:
* Parshas Vayechi
* Meet Tes
* What Makes a Leader?
* Arts & Crafts

In this week's parsha, Yaakov finishes his years... he blesses his family, with some surprises!

We meet our new Alef-Bet friend, Tatty Tes... and hear a story about how Tes owns a Tea-House.

CONTINUE AT HOME: Have a Tes tea-party... point out how Tes looks (somewhat) like a teapot.

You can also work on your alef-bet book... here's our latest letter! * craft suggestion: tea painting! Gets a bit messy.... paint with a teabag or with tea essence (room temperature). Decorate your Tes with tea! or surround your Tes with things beginning with "t" sound.

What makes a leader? Find out in our class this week (Thursday) as we discuss midot tovot, spotlighting behaviors of Reuvain and Yehuda.

Arts and Crafts: Make a puppet who can cross his hands so you can play Yaakov blessing Ephraim and Menashe.
