Hi all! This week:* Kohen Gadol paper doll with all the bigdei kehuna (clothes of the kohen)* create a virtual "mishloach manot" basket* learn the mitzvos of Purim* Meet our friend "Mem"
This is a good basic project, which you can spin off of - a kohen gadol paper doll. The kids can either color straight on it, then cut and play with the doll, or you can make a trip to a fabric store and get all the necessary components, then assemble the doll using the cloths (this is great for tactile learners!). Also, a fun project: making the choshen mishpat! Remind the kids of the story of Dama Ben Nessina and the key under the pillow....
See you online!
Note from Yael: You can find paper dolls and kohen-gadol clothes all ready to print and use at Chinuch.org. Click to go directly to the page for that download. You'll need to log in, or create an account if you don't already have one.
Hi all! Here is the Terumah project to do with your kids. It's a good "fine motor skills" activity because of the cutting, too!
Also - in this week's parsha we read about the Menorah in the Mishkan. This menorah was made of one piece of gold, hammered out into seven branches, to symbolize how the Jewish people, though we may all be a bit different, are all really one. A good idea to illustrate this to children is to make a menorah out of play-dough or other pliable material in the same way - sculpt the whole thing out of one chunk of play-dough instead of adding pieces when needed.
Good chodesh!
